Evaluation of metallic implant influence on SAR distribution in a multilayered tissue model

The proposed paper deals with simulation and analysis of the radiofrequency field inside the multilayered human tissue model comprising a superficial metallic implant. The research was carried out using electromagnetic modeling based on the Finite Integration method and analysis was performed in terms of computing electric field distributions and spatial-averaged SAR distributions. The main objective was to compare levels of absorbed electromagnetic energy with and without metallic implant, depending on the fat layer thickness. The focus was on far-field exposure modeled by linearly polarized electromagnetic plane waves. The results have shown that the presence of a metallic implant caused higher SAR distribution, as well as variability with respect to the fat layer thickness. However, dosimetric limits were not exceed in all considered exposure scenarios.
