An electrical micro Coulter approach toward the characterization of size tunable microbubbles produced by a flow focusing microfluidic device

Micro Coulter Particle Counters (μCPCs) are a class of microfluidic devices that achieve electrical detection of particles through a sensing zone. An unsolved problem in operating flow focusing microfluidic devices (FFMDs) and researching potential point-of-use applications is the requirement for observation under a high speed microscopy setup. By integrating a μCPC into an FFMD, we demonstrate the electrical detection of microbubbles (MBs) as progress towards eventual use in a point-of-use application involving an FFMD placed on a catheter tip.
