Corrosion evaluation of additive manufacture metal alloy by nondestructive line-focused transducer

In this study, we characterized the elastic properties of additive manufactured metal alloy before and after the electrochemical corrosion using the line-focused ultrasonic transducer system. The calculation was based on the measurement of the surface Rayleigh wave's velocity. The result showed that the velocity of the surface wave and the Young's modulus had negative correlation with the degree of corrosion. We built a galvanic cell to simulate the electrochemical corrosion in this test and use a concave transducer with motorized stage to emit and detect the ultrasonic waves which could be used in surface wave's calculation.
