Evaluation of two band reflectance ratios for predicting concentrations of Chlorophyl-A in the river sava

Reflectance ratios are widely used in the water quality retrieval algorithms, but they are not universally applicable and have to be tuned to the local conditions. In this study we present optical characteristics of the River Sava and assess two band ratio model for the prediction of concentrations of Chl-a from the hyperspectral data. We found that the best correlation was with the NIR-blue band ratio. The results will enable further evaluation of data acquired from hyperspectral airborne and satellite sensors for monitoring water quality in the River Sava.
