Dual output cuk converter fed switched reluctance motor drive

A dual output PFC Cuk converter is proposed to obtain the power factor correction and switched reluctance (SRM) motor control. As per the requirement, two equal output voltages are required to feed the mid-point converter fed SRM drive. The motor control is obtained by varying the DC link voltage over wide range. The modified Cuk converter operating in DCM (Discontinuous conduction mode) with wide voltage output for speed control of SRM. The switching frequency of the converter is considered at 20 kHz to reduce the overall size of the converter. It presents the overall design and performance of the proposed converter fed SRM drive. The input current THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) is brought down below 5% as per the IEC 6100-3-2 standard.
