Modelling and theoretical analysis of cooperative spectrum sensing performance

The effectiveness of a spectrum sensing algorithm is mainly measured by achievable throughput. Delays incurred by techniques which group cooperating SU and channels directly affect the achievable throughput. In this paper, Medium Access Control (MAC) layer framework that incorporates channel grouping technique is proposed. We integrate parallel sensing and sequential sensing to maximize achievable throughput while minimizing delays. We present theoretical analysis of the proposed framework and investigate the optimal number of channels per group which maximizes the achievable throughput.
