Accuracy preserving computation of asymptotically smoothed layered medium Green's functions in finite precision arithmetic

The catastrophic cancellation due to singularity subtraction when computing layered medium Green's functions (LMGFs) is discussed. An efficient and accurate method based on Taylor series expansions is proposed for computing LMGFs to a prescribed accuracy in finite precision arithmetic.
