Investigations on effects of finite ground plane on slot antennas using characteristic modes

This work attempts to investigate the effects of finite size of the embedding conducting plane on the performance of a simple narrow rectangular slot antenna. The slot mode is identified and a modal impedance modeling of the antenna is obtained using Theory of Characteristic Modes.
