A survey on automatic detection of hard exudates in diabetic retinopathy

Exudates are one of the main symptoms of Diabetic Retinopathy (DR); an eye related disease which leads to blindness. An early detection of exudates prevents the patients from blindness. This paper focuses on the procedure of automated techniques for detection of hard exudates and its details. It gives a detailed description of each method in every step of the automatic detection algorithm. Furthermore, this paper reviews the contribution of many researchers in this field and highlights the significant improvement achieved by them.
