Modeling and simulation of multi-effect desalination plant (SIDEM unit)

Modeling and numerical simulation of the triple effect desalination plant coupled with thermo-vapor compressor is performed. The desalination system is an industrial application of desalination seawater used in the Tunisian Chemical Group (GCT), which located in Tunisia. The plant composed in three subsystems; effects, condenser, and compressor; which presented their mass and energy balances. The objective function is to find a model of the industrial plant can simulate with the numerical software Aspen HYSYS. A MATLAB algorithm is developed and used to solve a model equation which is connected with the process simulator. Finally, the results obtained by simulation are compared with industrial data.
