Modeling shadow fading correlation in 60 GHz outdoor urban street canyons

We report empirical observations for both small and large scale fading in urban street canyons at 60 GHz. The observed (average) de-correlation distance of small scale fades was less than 4λ, with spatial X-factors > 25 dB. We observed a path-loss exponent close to Friis (1.9). The shape of the normalized auto-correlation function of shadow fades was well described by exponential terms whose amplitudes were modulated by a sine/cosine function, with median (empirical) de-correlation distance of 32λ, which is smaller than most of the results mentioned in the literature (up to 100λ).
