Waveform design for MIMO radar with multiple beams

Since multibeam technique in MIMO radar doesn't reduce the dwell time and the data rate, it is preferred in multi-target tracking or imaging. This paper focuses on the MIMO radar waveform design for multiple beams. Taking into account the beampattern and the range resolution, we establish an unconstrained optimization model based on jointly minimizing the beampattern matching error and the auto-correlation integrated sidelobe level (ISL). To improve the computational efficiency, the Chirp-Z transform is employed in the solving procedure. Numerical results show that the designed waveforms can approximately realize the desired multibeam and have good pulse compression properties.
