SOCP-based improved direct data domain least square approach for STAP

The direct data domain least square (D3LS) method using a single snapshot is capable of handling the non-homogeneous environment and thus has been widely studied. In this paper, an improved D3LS approach for space-time adaptive processing (STAP) is presented. By exploiting the constraints on the desired sidelobe output pattern, the proposed method reformulates the D3LS problem in the context of convex problem optimization. Then, second order cone programming (SOCP) is used to yield the solution of the problem. According to the simulation results, the proposed method can achieve much lower sidelobe level and deeper null for interference. In particular, it can also maintain a decent target detection performance in case of uncertainty in the knowledge of exact target parameters as direction of arrival and Doppler frequency.
