PdCu alloy nanoparticles supported on reduced graphene oxide as active catalyst for electroless copper plating

In this work, PdCu bimetallic alloy nanoparticles supported on reduced graphene oxide was prepared by a wet-chemistry approach. Atomic-force microscopy (AFM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) were performed to characterize the structures of as-prepared grapheme oxide and PdCu nanoparticle on graphene sheet. The electrochemical activity toward formaldehyde electrooxidation in alkaline condition was tested by cyclic voltammetry (CV), and electrochemical quartz crystal microbalance (EQCM) was used to illustrate the performance of electroless copper plating of as-prepared materials as active catalyst. The results indicated that alloy bimetallic nanoparticles supported on graphene sheets could be used as active agent for electroless copper plating on epoxy board and paper. The as-prepared nanocatalyst was promising for the future development of interconnect technologies in electronic packaging.
