Sinusoidal Simulink Model

This chapter focuses on the development of a simple Simulink model based on a sinusoidal signal. It also focuses on the development of the Simulink model of a sine wave. The chapter examines the spectrum of a sine wave using Simulink library blocks. A Simulink model is used for determining the spectrum and power spectrum of a sinusoidal signal. Since matrix laboratory (MATLAB) underlies all Simulink computations, the user should not be surprised at the numerical agreement between MATLAB and Simulink computations. The spectrum calculations using a fast Fourier transform (FFT) have demonstrated the need to utilize a window function to control the main lobe width and sidelobe leakage. The length of the FFT, the buffer overlap, the number of averages and the window selection directly determine the accuracy of the spectrum.
