Numerical simulation of high frequency instability induced by the distribution of gas-liquid scheme injectors in an experiment-scale Kero/GOX liquid rocket engine

A hot-fire test of an experiment-scale Kero/GOX liquid rocket engine is carried out. Numerical simulation on the basis of the experiment is calculated with the purpose of verifying the validity of the numerical simulation model in this paper. After that, high frequency instability induced by the distribution of gas-liquid scheme injectors is studied numerically. There are three injectors distribution schemes in the injectors faceplate built and calculated. The numerical simulation result shows that potential possibility of high frequency unsteady combustion increases as the injectors are mounted near the edge of injectors faceplate. In scheme2 and sheme3, whose injectors are arranged away from the injectors faceplate center, severe 1T mode high frequency instability appears. As a result, high frequency combustion instability is sensitive to the distribution of injectors, since the injectors distribution exerts straightforward effects on the complex process of injection, vaporization, atomization and mixing, which is regarded as the immediate influential factor of unsteady combustion.
