Telerehabilitation real-world applications: where the rubber meets the road

Telerehabilitation is defined as the use of telecommunications technology to provide rehabilitation and long-term support to people with disabilities. This article describes a continuum of services and the means of delivery; telerehabilitation at Shepherd Center is also briefly described. Services are broken down into three categories: clinic to clinic; clinic to patient; and personal status monitoring. Further discussion considers clinical needs, integrated, multidisciplinary approach and future endeavors.
