Over-thrust enhanced engine control based on risk assessment in the case of runway incursion

In the case of runway incursion, aircrafts require engines to provide enhanced thrust to avoid the collision with the barriers on the runway. At that time, engines need to release the original limits, which may also let themselves in danger. Thereby, it is necessary to build risk-assessing system to help engines choose the optimal enhanced control strategy and relax the limits reasonably considering the flight safety. This paper proposes the risk-assessing algorithm and builds a risk-based system of enhanced engine performance management. The results of the simulation in MATLAB/Simulink prove that the engine can provide the desired performance within an appropriate risk range.
