Multivariate and some other extensions of sampling Theory for Signal Processing a historic perspective

The well known Shannon sampling theory is mainly for one variable signals. For its various aspects, to date, we have many excellent overview treatments, as tutorials and reference books. However, for the multivariate sampling theory and some other basic extensions, we do have a good number of research papers, but an overview is mainly limited to only a couple of chapters in several books on sampling theory. The present talk centers on a tutorial review of the various aspects of the multivariate sampling for the past sixty years, since it was suggested by Parzen in 1956. This is in addition to few other basic extensions. We emphasize that this talk represents only an outline summary of the detailed review paper to be submitted to our SampTA journal: Sampling Theory in Signal and Image Processing - An International Journal (stsip.org).
