Neither high [K/sup +/]/sub e/, low pH/sub e/ nor Ca/sup +2/ manipulations significantly impacts the correlation between MF and MDE to altered reperfusion flows following IVF

Analysis of MF (median frequency) and MDE (minimum defibrillation energy) following IVF (ischemic ventricular fibrillation) in Langendorff perfused swine hearts revealed that reperfusion flow rates had the greatest impact on both parameters. Ca/sup +2/ channel manipulations, which impact the organization of the VF waveform as well as excitability, may be important in establishing the MDE.
