Accurate localization of phase singularities during reentry

Computer simulations using a two state variable model scaled appropriately for cardiac tissue were used to study the accuracy with which phase singularities could be localized. The accuracy of localizing a phase singularity is dependent on the choice of a center point in state space used to calculate phase maps. In order to treat simulation data as experimental data, only one variable was used and different levels of noise were added for the analyses. For signal to noise ratios of 5 and above, precise determination of the center point was not necessary to identify the singularity with 1 mm accuracy.
