Model order reduction and system simulation of a machine tool for real-time compensation of thermally induced deformations

This work presents the application of mathematical methods of model order reduction for automatic generation of highly accurate and compact models of strongly coupled thermo-mechanical machine tool model. In the further step, the reduced model is imported into the system-level simulation. Based on the accurate reduced order model, a cascade controller is implemented to monitor and compensate the thermally induced deformations of a machine tool.
