In FeSiB glass covered wires that have a high positive magnetostriction that determine a inner core magnetized along the wire and an outer shell radially magnetized, a current passing along the wire cannot induce a domain wall, but will modify significant the value of the domain wall velocity induced by a dc longitudinal magnetic field. In the CoFeSiB glass covered wires having nearly zero magnetostriction, annealed to obtain an inner core axially magnetized and an outer shell circumferentially magnetized, applying an a.c. current along the wire it is possible to induce a domain wall in the outer shell and to control its velocity. These results are essential for the control of domain wall dynamics, with important consequences on the development of magnetic domain wall logic devices and for other applications.
