Orthogonal fluxgate gradiometer with multiple coil pairs

Summary form only given. In this paper we present a new type of magnetic gradiometer based on orthogonal fluxgate in fundamental mode. This type of sensor can be build using two different magnetic cores, each one with its own pick-up coil, or using single core with two pick-up coils wound on it. In the first case it is easy to suppress the response to the homogeneous field by matching the sensitivities with different excitation parameters. However, this approach has an obvious disadvantage in terms of noise and offset stability vs. temperature.
