Voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy in Tb-Fe-Co/MgO/Gd-Fe MTJ devices

Voltage-controlled magnetic anisotropy (VCMA) effect was successfully observed in ferromagnetic metals such as thin Fe-Pt and Fe-Pd films for the first time.detail. In this article, we study Tb-Fe-Co/MgO/Gd-Fe MTJs with a thick MgO insulating layer avoiding Joule heating and show the VCMA for the relatively thick Gd-Fe free layer became more significant with very thin insertion layers of Co-Fe/Gd under the Gd-Fe free layer. This finding may be very useful for opening up a new application such as the spatial light modulator.
