Calculating the cross section of non 1/ν nuclei in cold neutron beam measurements

One of the important traits of nuclear reactions, including fission is the reaction probability that is characterized with its cross section as a function of energy. At thermal or lower neutron energy regions it can be said many times that the reaction cross section of a nucleus is inversely proportional to the velocity of the neutron. These nuclei are the so called one over v (1/ν) nuclei. For some medium heavy or heavy nuclei, where the density of resonances is high, there can be differences considering the cross section values compared to 1/v nuclei. When this difference is neglected there can be a big difference in calculations using cross section data as it was a 1/v nuclei. Therefore refining the cross section data of non 1/v nuclei is especially important task. Here we report a way to probe differential cross section measurements with subthermal neutron energies using integral experiment.
