Revisiting three-phase sudden short-circuit and voltage recovery tests

This paper revisits the sudden short-circuit and voltage recovery tests, suggesting new insights and the benefits of their sequential application for parameters determination and complete d-axis modeling of salient pole synchronous machines. Discussions are developed based on parameters calculations from test results and simulations, including methods for the obtaining of the characteristic (Canay) reactance.
