Wearability assessment of an equipment for spine posture monitoring

Wearable systems that aim to monitor human posture are becoming more and more popular due to the technology breakthroughs that allow for lighter, easier to use and nonintrusive devices. However, the use of any device can decline over time if it's not comfortable or affects the user, either physically or psychologically. This study shortly presents an equipment for spine posture monitoring that uses inertial measurement units (IMUs) and the wearability results after testing the system on 20 participants. The Comfort Rating Scales (CRS) were used to determine the physical and cognitive comfort of the equipment with the aim of improving the design of the system, in order to ensure a long term usability.
