A comparative analysis of different topographic corrections over North Indian Himalayan

The present study deals with analysis of different topographic corrections over north Indian Himalayan. Remote sensing is only the possible solution to monitor temporal variations by acquiring information on nearly daily basis concerned with Earth surface. In order to monitor the regional climatic changes, some corrections need to be performed on acquired raw data such as geometric, atmospheric/radiometric corrections. While working on undulating terrain topography imagery, it is highly recommended to apply topographic correction to the removal of shadow effects that existed due to variation in illumination angles. From this perspective, diverse topographic correction techniques have been introduced since past few decades. In this paper, the attention is diverted towards the behavior of well-developed topographic corrections models using MODIS (Moderate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer) data. These outcomes were further compared on the basis of graphical as well as visual analysis. It is projected that such comparative analysis on different topographic corrections methods gives an operative supervision to the engineers for efficiently use the complex information over undulating terrain.
