High practicality and high efficiency multi-output LED driver with remote dimming control

This paper presents a high-efficiency multioutput LED driver with remote dimming control. Its architecture is divided into two stages: the prestage comprises an active power factor correction circuit for improving power quality. The poststage comprises a half-bridge LLC resonant converter circuit for achieving stable output power through a resonant circuit with switching frequency modulation. All power switches in the system possess the zero voltage switching features for reducing the switching loss considerably and for achieving high efficiency. A digital remote control with a dsPIC30F4011 microcontroller and remote control interface were used to control the output current and dimming of four LED modules. Finally, a multioutput high-efficiency half-bridge LLC resonant converter with remote dimming control was implemented, the input voltage, output power, output current, efficiency, and power factor of which were ac 110-240 V, 200 W, 4 A, 93.5%, and 0.99, respectively. The experimental results confirm the feasibility and effectiveness of the proposed power converter.
