Torque modulation in rotating-blade systems using a novel magnetic arrangement

This paper discusses an idea for torque and speed modulation in rotating-blade systems. This can be done by magnetizing the blades of the system in a particular manner and keeping an electromagnet at the base of it. The base electromagnet and the magnetized blades interact appropriately to produce the required speed/torque modulation. Using the principles of electromagnetic interactions, it has been derived that the change in torque and speed of the rotating blades is directly proportional to the strength of magnetic interactions between the magnetized blades and the base electromagnet, which in turn depends upon the magnetizing current flowing in the base electromagnet. The direction and magnitude of the current flowing in the electromagnet can be controlled through a control mechanism which senses the quantum of torque/speed modulation required. The proposed technique has potential applications in the field of torque/speed control of rotating blade arrangements like aerial robots, airplanes, automobile drives - for enhancing torque applied to the drive shaft, braking system in wheels of automobiles, and others.
