Simple, low cost micro-controller based data communication system using ambient light sensor for VLC

Visible Light communication is a modern communication system. The system consists of a LED and a photo-detector. The white LED can be used to transmit modulated data sequence without any harmful microwave radiation along with its primary purpose of illumination. So, the extra installation of medium for the data transmission can be avoided; leading to a low cost data transmission system. The transmitted data can be received by photo-detectors in smart devices which are already present. The original data can be regained by means of wireless communication system specifically through visible light communication using the same visible band in the energy spectrum. In this paper, micro-controller based simple and low cost design technique of transmitter module, receiver module and system for data communication through LED has been proposed. The system analysis also represents the efficiency of the system.
