Design and testing of parallel alignment mechanism for space optical payload

This paper presents a new 6-DOF secondary mirror alignment mechanism for space optical payload. The moving platform is connected to the base by six PSS (Prismatic-Spherical-Spherical) serial chains. The model is established and the inverse kinematics, Jacobian and stiffness modeling are also performed. The numerical simulation is carried out to verify the proposed inverse kinematics. The prototype has been developed and the basic experiment which is simulated the secondary mirror has been performed. Finally, the requirements of accuracy, lateral stiffness and natural frequency are tested and the feasibility of the alignment system is also verified.
