Contour stencil based criteria for pansharpening

Pansharpening is the process of information gathering from low resolution multispectral (MS) image and a high resolution panchromatic (Pan) image to create high spatial and spectral resolution MS. Preserving the spectral characteristics, is the essentials of this process. Spectral distortion caused by fusion, could be due to the details injection in unnecessary pixels. In this paper, a contour stencil based criteria is used to determine, where it is necessary to inject details. For this purpose, the similarity parameter will defined based on the stencil orientation and anisotropy parameter. The proposed method is compared with the GIHS and AIHS methods. Results show it preserves more spectral features with less spatial distortion.
