Improvement of direct torque control performance of induction machine by using self tuning fuzzy logic controller for elimination of stator resistance variation effect

Direct torque control (DTC) is characterized by a fast torque response and robust control. However, this control is highly sensitive to stator resistance. The variation of a stator resistance due to changes in temperature or frequency deteriorates the performance of the drive. In order to overcome this problem, a method for compensation of the stator resistance disturbance is proposed by using the self tuning fuzzy logic controller. The interest of this controller is its ability to adjust the gains of the classical PI controller when a variation of machine parameters is occurred. Simulation results showed the performance improvement of DTC by using the proposed method.
