Real-time laser range-finder operation modeling

Active usage of laser range-finders in computer vision systems sets new requirements to the characteristics of the sensors of such type. This fact further requires the production and the choice of expensive components included in the sensor. The process of RAW modeling of the data from sensor allows to choose suitable components as well as to predict a preliminary result of developed device operation. Modeling process consists of ray tracing to 3D model elements (surface and objects) with the aim to determine the distance to them. High validity of the result can be achieved when tracing together with highly detailed 3D models. Such process can't be performed in real time. The article describes a technique reducing the time of ray tracing and allowing to determine RAW data from the range-finder in real time.
