Vibro-acoustic simulation approach for single phase permanent split capacitor motor noise

The main purpose of this paper is to perform a vibro-acoustic analysis in order to predict acoustic response by Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) models related to a single phase permanent split capacitor motor noise. The radial magnetic force between stator and rotor is a main excitation source to create deformations of the stator housing, causing vibrations and acoustic noise. These forces are determined using electromagnetic simulation and are mapped to the vibro-acoustic model elaborated by means of finite element method. The dominant vibration modes are verified by experimental modal analysis and operational deflection shapes. Using the acoustic noise propagation model, the noise and vibration of the motor will be analyzed and optimizations will be proposed.
