Simulation of a four resonant coil power transfer system

This paper presents the simulation of a four coils inductive power transfer system. The system uses resonance for power transfer optimization. The input and output impedances are calculated and the coupling factors for the coils are adjusted in such a way to obtain matching impedance for the entire system. Simulation is done using finite element for calculating the coupling factor for each pair of coils. Trough calculations it is shown that at a specific coupling factors ratio the power transfer is maximized. Using the values obtain from the finite element simulation, a spice simulation is performed and the results are in accordance with previous simulations. For comparison a similar system with only two coils is simulated and the differences are shown. The magnetic field generated and received by the resonant coils can be visualized for a better understanding of the process.
