Coupled electric — Thermal model for SR-drives

In automotive applications detailed multi-domain modeling and testing at component and sub-component level is necessary to improve the understanding and design capabilities for higher performances and lower costs. New and faster tools are required to reduce the development and testing time and effort for electrical actuated automotive sub-systems. The paper presents a thermal model to simulate and evaluate the behavior of a Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) at sub-system level under specific automotive testing scenarios. The model is created in a multi-domain simulation environment (AMESim©) that can be coupled to other commercially or open source available physics-based tools, for a more accurate evaluation.
