Comparative study of electric car traction motors

The main design and technology features of different traction motors in today's produced battery electric vehicles are considered. The advantages and the arguments for choice of certain principal solutions and concepts by the electric car drive are analyzed. In the paper the traction motor design is researched by means of finite element simulations and the aim is to reveal some substantive aspects of the electromagnetic energy conversion.
