Comparison between conventional wind measurement systems and SODAR systems for remote sensing including examination of real wind data

In order to design a profitable wind farm, the local wind conditions are measured to perform a detailed wind site assessment. The choice of appropriate measurement equipment and its correct installation are crucial. Measuring equipment must perform as precisely as possible to ensure the quality of data essential for producing accurate wind site assessments. In this paper a comparison is performed between wind data measurements of SODAR system and meteorological mast at different height levels and using different SODAR settings.
