SINR based capacity performance analysis of hovering Ad-Hoc network

The use of small, low-altitude Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have been emerging as suitable solutions in the cellular network context to provide radio coverage in disaster recovery regions as well as in hotspot areas. However, when such hotspot groups are in movement, they create a demand for coverage and capacity at locations of their traversal, congesting the nearby ground base stations. In our previous work, we investigated this phenomenon of congestion and defined it as the Place Time Capacity (PTC) problem. Further, we proposed a deployable architecture of the Hovering Ad-Hoc Network (HANET) to assist the ground infrastructure in serving the PTC. In this paper, we present a simulation-based SINR and capacity performance analysis of a LTE-A HetNet based network scenario with HANET members complementing the ground Base Stations (BS) to handle the PTC problem. The network simulation model is based on the ITU-R M.2135-1 radio interface guidelines for IMT-Advanced standard.
