Heterogeneous high performance computing modules for next generation onboard processing

This paper describes the key modules for implementing a modern heterogeneous multiprocessor system for use on-board spacecraft. This paper discusses the designs and the decisions that went into creating these modules as well as details on the capabilities and technical performance measures for the modules. Discussions of testing these new high performance modules is included. A sample SpaceVPX system containing power converter(s), a Space Utility Management module, each processing module type, optional switch modules plus potential daughter cards is described. Example configurations illustrate the combined performance and bandwidth improvements possible for future spacecraft missions.
