A study on rule based approach for Grapheme to Phoneme conversion of Assamese letters in Festival framework

In speech synthesis process Grapheme to Phoneme or Letter to Sound conversion rule is called as G2P or LTS. These are a set of rules used to map text to its appropriate pronunciation. Generally a lexicon or dictionary is prepared to search pronunciation of the words of a language. This paper gives idea about how to formulate G2P rules for Assamese language that are helpful for generating proper pronunciation of the words. The overall methodology of searching for utterance are also described elaborately throughput the discussion.
