Trapezoidal control of Brushless DC motor based on DSP F28335

Brushless DC motors (BLDC) can achieve a high performance on efficiency comparing to traditional Brushed DC motor, but their control is more complicated because it requires a phase supply switching circuit. This paper presents a trapezoidal control of an Outrunner Brushless motor based on Hall effect sensors and a DSP card to implement the all control scheme. An algorithm to calculate the rotor speed using the signal coming from one of Hall effect sensors is proposed. Finally some experiments are presented to illustrate the response on speed with PI control and verify the capability and performance of the control algorithm.
