Study on Cavity Resonator wireless power transfer to sensors in an enclosed space with scatterers

In this study, we investigate the Cavity Resonator wireless power transfer (CR WPT) in an enclosed space with scatterers. First, we confirm that the constructed experimental model is working as a cavity resonator by simulation and theoretical formula. Next, we calculate the maximum power transmission efficiency using a model which is placed inside the scatterers by installing a Rx at the line-of-sight and non-line-of-sight (NLOS) position in the Tx. As a result, the expected transmission efficiency of more than 30 % in the NLOS position from Tx, is clarified. Then, we investigate the feeding method at several positions, and it is confirmed that Time Division Power Feeding is a superior method than Simultaneous Power Feeding to all Rx. Finally, we experiment with power transmission to drive a battery-less sensor in the experimental model using full-shielding with a metal mesh model. We confirm that simultaneous communication can be performed with driving of the battery-less sensor by CR WPT.
