Downstream speed improvement with crosstalk cancellation technique in VDSL2

The crosstalk between neighboring lines in Digital subscriber line (DSL) systems has limit the achievable data rates of the systems and in order to improve the speed, the existence of this interference need to be eliminated completely. Vectoring method introduces the coordination of line signals for reduction of crosstalk levels hence improve the line performance. This paper describes a Very-high-bit-rate digital subscriber line 2 VDSL2 channel model with far end crosstalk (FEXT) cancellation which able to improve the results of the line data rate according to the copper cable length for downstream direction. Diagonalizing Precoder (DP) was chosen as to realize the precoding technique for vectoring. The data rate performance is simulated for various length up to 1 km using fully filled (FF) 0.5 mm gauge copper cable and the results obtained shows an increase of speed as compared to non-vectored VDSL2.
