Optimal penetration ratio for a radial feeder with a Microgrid

The power flow analysis is one of the important tools of the power management system. The load flow study is essential for proper design and stable operation of power system so as to improve its reliability. The work presents the effect of penetration of a Microgrid into the Main grid. New algorithm is proposed for evaluating optimal penetration ratio of Microgrid. The line losses are minimum at this penetration ratio. The algorithm is tested on 9 bus and 34 bus radial distribution systems. The algorithm is tested using three power flow methods viz. Forward Backward Sweep method, Newton Raphson method and Newton Trust Region method. Optimal penetration ratio is determined by using Backward Forward Sweep method for power management of Microgrid.
