Traffic priority based gateway selection in Integrated Internet-MANET

An Integrated Internet MANET is a heterogeneous networking architecture which is formed by interconnecting wired Internet with wireless MANET. Such architecture is needed in order to realize the potential of, and to achieve the stated objectives of proposed 5G networks of the future. Several issues arise in Integrated Internet MANET, chief among them being Quality of Service (QoS). Packet type based routing protocol is proposed in this paper in order to improve the quality of service over Integrated Internet MANET. Two of the most important QoS parameters for communication are average end to end delay and packet loss rate. The primary aim of this work is to reduce the average end to end delay and packet loss while minimizing the routing load overhead. The proposed packet type based routing protocol has been simulated in ns-2 network simulator. Based on the simulation results, it is observed that the proposed protocol incurs lesser average end to end delay and packet loss when compared to the existing approach.
