Adaptive control of transfer switches and synchronous motors self-starting at oil pumping stations

When supply from one of the power supply sources is interrupted, electric motors of pumping station loses supply and passes running-down mode; during this process rotational speed of pumps and performance of the pipeline decrease and pressure waves emerge. At the present, an automatic switch with hard logic and fixed values of operation is used for restoration of power supply for oil pumping stations. The marginal approach defines the selection, in which the currents in the network and the voltages on the terminals of electric motors are determined only for the two limited modes of electrical networks: the minimum and maximum ones. Herewith, currently used devices don't consider the difference between the actual mode of the electrical network and the pipeline from the limit values and operate with fixed set values and hard logic of operation. The article offers a marginal approach at selection of parameters and operation logic of automatic transfer switch and the calculation of the self-starting leads to decrease sensitivity, increase the operation time of voltage fault detectors and to reduction of the application area of self-starting. Adaptive control of automatic transfer switch performance and a self-starting of electric motors in oil pumping stations are proposed. Based on experimental data, it is shown that adaptive control accelerates transfer switching and reduces the break time of the pump lines during the interruption of supply from outside sources.
